How to choose a training course

Five questions to ask before you pay for any course., 4 min read

A good course teaches you something you can show at the end. Before you sign up, ask these questions and write down the answers.

  • What will I be able to do when it ends, and can I see work from past students?
  • How much of the time is practice, not lectures?
  • Who teaches it, and have they done this work themselves?
  • What does it cost in total, including travel, materials and time away from work?
  • Is there a shorter way to try it first, such as a weekend workshop?

If a course promises a job abroad or a guaranteed income, be careful and check it with people you trust first.
